Penncrest H.S. lax team wins Patriot Games Summer Showcase




Congratulations to the Penncrest High School Lacrosse Team who won the Patriot Games Lacrosse Summer Showcase on July 20-21. 
It truly was a dominating performance by Penncrest as the team out-scored their opponents, never once playing from behind.
The Penncrest High School Lacrosse Team is Justin Beyer, Rob Bond, Alex Bonnett, Casey Brown, Cameron Bryan, Dan Bullitt, Max Fishman, Pat Gorman, Ryan Granger, Drew Hanna, Billy and Ryan Kinnard, Robert Logan, Will Manganiello, Pat McLaughlin, Joe Montgomery, Liam O'Donnell, Dylan Protesto, Ryan Schultz, Colin Speer, Bill VanLeer, Matt Young, and Coach Evan Pettit.

St. Pius X School JV softball team wins Region 25/32 championship





The St. Pius X School JV softball team clinched the Region 25/32 Championship, beating St. Bernadette's 7-0 in the championship game. It was a tight game until St. Pius X scored five runs in the third inning with key hits from Allison Ahearn, Alyssa Daly, Victoria Amoroso, Rylie McGowan and Haley McGonigle. 
St. Pius X added two more insurance runs in the 4th inning with key hits by Julia Kush, Sophia Gannon, Lindsay Kane and Rachel Bonfini.  Starting pitcher Samantha Randazzo claimed the victory with a dominating 8 strike-out performance, capping a perfect 13-0 season for her.  Bridget Weidenmiller, Julia DiDio and Olivia Devitt contributed with key plays in the field.
This wrapped up an extraordinary season for them as St. Pius went undefeated in the regular season and the playoffs - a stretch of 13 wins and no losses. It truly was a dominating performance by St. Pius X as they scored 94 runs in the regular season, while only giving up 16 runs.
In the playoffs, they stepped it up even more, scoring 30 runs and only giving up one run. They played like champions all season, never once playing from behind in a game. The girls set a goal during their preseason practices of putting "2013 - UNDEFEATED" on the championship banner in the St. Pius X gym and they accomplished this incredible goal.  
The St. Pius X School JV softball team are Allison Ahearn, Victoria Amoroso, Rachel Bonfini, Alyssa Daly, Olivia Devitt, Julia DiDio, Sophia Gannon, Lindsay Kane, Julia Kush, Haley McGonigle, Rylie McGowan, Samantha Randazzo and Bridget Weidenmiller.  Coaches were Paul Daly, Joe Kush, Mike Ahearn and Gabby Ceritano.

Haverford Heat Legion Prep 13-year-olds win Delmont League championship





The Haverford Heat Legion Prep 13-year-old team won the Delmont League championship by beating Conestoga, 7-5.
The Heat team finished league play with a 25-5 mark and competed with seven other PA Legion teams for the state championship in Spring City at Spring-Ford High School Ram Stadium.

Broomall Bengals Elite team wins Summer Slam tournament





Broomall Bengals Elite baseball team made up of players from Newtown Edgemont, South Marple, Marple, and Media won the South Jersey Summer Slam tournament recently in Swedesboro, New Jersey. The team defeated Next Level Baseball, 10-3, in the championship game.

St. Bernadette's softball team wins Region 25/32 championship





The St. Bernadette of Lourdes Archdiocese softball team recently won the Region 25/32 championship game after defeating Sacred Heart, 5-0.
St. Bernie’s had an excellent season, finishing with a record of 14-1 overall. During the regular season, the team nearly went undefeated, with their only loss coming from Sacred Heart – the team they would eventually defeat in the Regional championship.
The team is Kerri Quinn, Kerry Keenan, Molly McNulty, Paige Brady, Hannah Nihill, Jane Bartlett, Maggie Sweeney, Claire Boylan,  Allyson Defruscio, Brooke Jones, Joan Moran, Meghan Sullivan, Mary Clair Boyle, Nieve Spellman, and Molly Walsh. With student managers Lauren Andrusko and Madison Oxenburg, manager Tom McNulty and coaches John Keenan and Chris Boylan.
