St. Pius X School JV softball team wins Region 25/32 championship

The St. Pius X School JV softball team clinched the Region 25/32 Championship, beating St. Bernadette's 7-0 in the championship game. It was a tight game until St. Pius X scored five runs in the third inning with key hits from Allison Ahearn, Alyssa Daly, Victoria Amoroso, Rylie McGowan and Haley McGonigle.
St. Pius X added two more insurance runs in the 4th inning with key hits by Julia Kush, Sophia Gannon, Lindsay Kane and Rachel Bonfini.  Starting pitcher Samantha Randazzo claimed the victory with a dominating 8 strike-out performance, capping a perfect 13-0 season for her.  Bridget Weidenmiller, Julia DiDio and Olivia Devitt contributed with key plays in the field.
This wrapped up an extraordinary season for them as St. Pius went undefeated in the regular season and the playoffs - a stretch of 13 wins and no losses. It truly was a dominating performance by St. Pius X as they scored 94 runs in the regular season, while only giving up 16 runs.
In the playoffs, they stepped it up even more, scoring 30 runs and only giving up one run. They played like champions all season, never once playing from behind in a game. The girls set a goal during their preseason practices of putting "2013 - UNDEFEATED" on the championship banner in the St. Pius X gym and they accomplished this incredible goal.
The St. Pius X School JV softball team are Allison Ahearn, Victoria Amoroso, Rachel Bonfini, Alyssa Daly, Olivia Devitt, Julia DiDio, Sophia Gannon, Lindsay Kane, Julia Kush, Haley McGonigle, Rylie McGowan, Samantha Randazzo and Bridget Weidenmiller.  Coaches were Paul Daly, Joe Kush, Mike Ahearn and Gabby Ceritano.
