Orioles win 2011 Haverford Township Hilltop Cal Ripken Major League divison title



The first place Orioles (13-1-1) who dominated the Major League division this year in the Haverford Township Hilltop Cal Ripken Youth Baseball League defeated the Eagles in a three game championship series, taking the series 2-0 and became the Hilltop Major League champions of 2011 on June 29.


The first game rally started early in the game when David Hogarth blasted a home run over the left field fence, followed by a Brian Hyland homer, along with Brandon Ploppert’s single and double.


The fourth inning started with a singles by Nolan Buszka, Kevin Lutz and Nick Magnani. Later innings were a team effort both offensively and defensively as David Hogarth pitched a gem with Brandon Ploppert in relief. The Orioles took the victory in the first game over the Eagles, 13-2.


In the final game, Nolan Buszka pitched the entire game with support of a David Hogarth home run, Brian Hyland 2 homeruns as well as two homers from Kevin Odgers. The entire team contributed with 15 hits and great defense limiting any rally by the Eagles. The Orioles defeated the Eagles 13-3 for the Hilltop Major League Championship. Congratulations to become the 2011 major champions.


The Eagles made a great effort and should also be congratulated for their season and competitiveness throughout the year making it to the championship series.
