$23,000 donated to Delco Hero Scholarship Fund

Representatives of Run for Heroes, Inc., delivered a contribution of $23,000 to the Delaware County Hero Scholarship Fund, which was accepted at the June 8 County Council meeting by Hero Fund President Robert T. Lythgoe (second from right). Making the presentation were (first row) Brian Pace, Springfield Police Chief Joe Daley, Dave Gallo, Bob Simpson and former County Councilman John J. McFadden. Joining in were (second row) Councilman Mario J. Civera Jr., Councilman Andy Lewis, Councilman Thomas J. McGarrigle, Council Vice Chairman Christine Fizzano Cannon and Council Chairman John J. Whelan. The donation brought the grand total to $227,500 raised through the Run for Heroes that was held last Oct. 11 for the ninth year in Springfield Township. The event is the largest single donor to fund. The 10th annual run will be held on Sunday, Oct 10, again in Springfield.
