Springfield U-11 Are Champs

Springfield's U-11 won their second straight District 1 Title Thursday night by defeating Hilltop 2-0. Great pitching by David Strawley, striking out the last two batters to seal the victory. The bottom of the first was the only inning runs were scored, Tommy Toal advanced to 1st on a walk, followed by a single by Nick Gorman, Toal and Gorman stole 2nd and 3rd. With the hot bat of Tom Quinn at the plate, his single down the right field line allowed only 2 runs of the game. A strong defensive performance by the whole team especially 2nd baseman, John Militello, making key plays to end innings. Congrats to players and coaches. The team will compete for the State Championship next weekend in Chichester.
