On June 7, the bats finally came alive but Blue gave Ridley too many free passes that they took full advantage of to outlast Springfield. Losing 6-0, Blue plated three in the third, one in the fourth, and two more in the fifth, but Ridley added on two in the top of fourth that made the effort too little, too late.
Brent Dunfee led the offense with three hits while Eric Gibbs and Tim Houtmann each had a pair. Kyle Pappa blasted a double and scored a run while Tim Finnegan, John O'Doherty, and Pete Sabato all had singles.
The pitching bright spot was Matt Culbertson who didn't allow a hit while striking out two in his two innings of work.

Springfield Gold 2
The baseball gods finally smiled on Blue the following day as they took out early season frustrations on Springfield Gold, winning 12-2 on the strength of a 12-hit attack.
Tim Finnegan was the offensive hero with three hits and three RBI's while scoring two runs. Brent Dunfee, Pete Sabato, and winning pitcher Chris Desiderio each had two hits. Dunfee also had two steals and two runs scored while Sabato had two RBI's. Eric Gibbs knocked in two runs with a laser single and forced in a third run with a walk. Danny Hee also came up big on base with a single and two walks and scoring two runs.
Desiderio was dominant on the mound allowing only two runs in the first inning when Sal Megaro banged in Zach Culbertson and Dylan Quinn who had each knocked hits ahead of him. Desiderio quickly settled down and went on to record six strikeouts while only walking two for a complete game victory.

Clifton 2
Tim Houtmann pitched strong in his first start of the year on June 10, earning the victory over Clifton. He tuned out and then turned off a raucous, under the lights, crowd at Clifton Field when he allowed just three hits while striking out three in his 4 1/3 innings of work.
Tim Finnegan then slammed the door in relief, entering with the bases loaded and one out in the fifth. He allowed just one inherited runner to score and was spotless the rest of the way, eliminating a final walked runner and a lot of loud mouths in the bottom of the seventh with a great pick-off.
Jeff Peranteau was the offensive star of the game with two hits, two walks, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base. He played great defense at second and also scored a run from third when he beat the catcher back to the plate on a bases loaded dropped third strike.
Chris Dougherty had a great game with two walks and a single, and Tommy Lyons had a big RBI single to go along with a walk and a steal. Defensively, Danny Hee made a fantastic over the shoulder catch and turned an unassisted double play from short while John O’Doherty started a pretty 5-4-3 DP from third to go along with a few other fine snags. He also doubled in the 7th.
Pete Sabato called a smart game from behind the plate and had a punch out on an attempted steal.
