Strength training for women in Springfield
Penn State Cooperative Extension is offering a summer class of the Strong Women Strength Training program. Classes are at Carmela’s Dance Studio, 206 Ballymore Road in Springfield on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m., starting June 8.
Strong Women is a research based strength training program for women ages 40 and over, that was developed by Dr. Miriam Nelson from Tufts University.
Four out of five women will have some form of osteoporosis as they age unless necessary precautions are started early to prevent the disease. Strong women will help women improve their balance, strengthen bones to lessen your risk for osteoporosis, and feel stronger.
Weights will be provided for class activities. Bring a towel and water. Call 610-690-7674 for questions. Brochures are available. Instructor: Joan McMenamin.
